Also idk about you but whenever I’ve been to Glasgow I’m struck by how much further north it is than London or even Birmingham - there’s literally less daylight hours rn the further north you go, might be part of it, might be me projecting my SAD onto everyone else - either way, an excellent and grounding read as always :))
A few months ago I moved from Manchester to Battambang in Cambodia and have been feeling almost all of the things you’ve mentioned. I’m on a flight back to Manchester at the moment and I have plans for the next week all lined up, but in Cambodia I just don’t have it in me to organise meet ups with people. Do I even need to? I’m quite happy living the hermit life for the time being I think. Great post as always 💚
The post-depressive & geographically-induced isolation effect is so real! I felt the exact same when I moved to Edinburgh. A shock to be so solitary but also to quite enjoy it? I loved your framing, thank you!
A few of these dilemmas are familiar to me - despite maturity (chronologically, at least).
I've become dislocated from a long established social group and seem to have lost myself somewhere along the way. I think I'm on the way to an improved version of me, but it's discombobulating atm.
Sure the combo of new city, new job and dark, gloomy weather has an impact. The only activities that would drag me out in this kinda weather last year were dance classes and book events/reading round! Makes Spring seem a lot more exciting! 🌱

Not much help now, but the first glasgow spring heat & sun of the year is going to hit SOOOO different for you!!! It's why we stay!!!
